Dana Smith
Vice President, Organizational Health and Performance
Dana Smith joined Communities In Schools National office in 2016 after a 12 year career at Communities In Schools of North Texas. Dana started with the organization as a Site Coordinator and held various leadership positions at CIS of North Texas including Parent Educator and Director of Community Investments, before taking over as CEO in 2011. While serving as CEO, Dana was successful in expanding programs to two additional school districts, for a total of six, resulting in 400% increase of services and students being served. As Vice President of Organizational Health and Performance at the National Office, she oversees the network support of CIS state offices and local affiliates to create conditions for successful CIS model implementation; ongoing implementation and the redesign of the accreditation process; the management of the CIS data system; and the network investments and grant opportunities from the National office. Dana achieved a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Baylor University where she was named Alumnus of the Year for 2018. She and her husband live in Dallas, Texas with their two sons.
