Communities In Schools® (CIS®), the nation’s leading provider of K-12 school-based integrated student supports, published its 2024 Community Matters Report which highlights current trends within public schools and how CIS provides strategies to ensure student success.
The 7th edition of the report titled “Connecting Students and Transforming Public Schools” takes a deep dive into issues like chronic absenteeism and student engagement and highlights initiatives helping students and communities across the 3,460 schools and community sites CIS serves nation-wide.
At CIS we see a moment of crisis with the state of public schools, but we also see a moment of possibility. The connections that Communities In Schools makes can have a significant impact on students' lives, entire schools, and school systems. We believe we can meet this moment with an intentional integrated effort that will transform public schools in America.
Dr. Heather Clawson, Chief, Program and Innovation, CIS National Office
In order to thrive, schools must be able to connect students, families, and teachers to the resources and supports needed to help all students succeed in school and in life. Today, those connections are too often beyond the ability of many public schools. But when schools implement the CIS model of integrated student supports (ISS), they connect to CIS’s network of nearly 8,000 community organizations that provide the resources and capacity schools need to help students overcome obstacles and achieve success.
The stories and data featured in this year’s community matters report reiterate the success of CIS’s integrated students supports model and the possibility of scaling the ISS model into 1,000 new majority low-income schools by 2027.
Communities In Schools invites educators, school administrators, and public education thought leaders to download this year’s community matters report and share it with their networks.
