Around the country, in communities with the greatest need, Communities In Schools® (CIS®) site coordinators in local schools are welcoming students to a new year of learning. CIS site coordinators embody a "whatever it takes" approach to ensure every student has the support and resources they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
CIS of Rural Eastern Washington prioritized attendance in their Tier 1 School Support Plan. CIS Site Coordinator Shannon Young implemented a proactive strategy to address the issue, including school-wide services and resources available to all students.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Communities In Schools of Houston began work at Clemente Martinez Elementary School, a Title I school where 99 percent of students are considered economically disadvantaged and 73 percent are considered “at-risk.”

Ashley, a fifth-grade student at 107th Elementary, is described by Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA) Site Director Clara Ortiz as well-rounded, with a deep love for learning and a go-getter attitude. But what many may not know about Ashley is that her family recently left El Salvador, making personal sacrifices to start a new life in the United States.
