Communities In Schools (CIS) is the nation's largest dropout prevention organization. Communities In Schools champions the connection of needed community resources with schools to help students successfully learn, remain in school and prepare for life.

Volunteers Process

To Volunteer with Communities In Schools, call (336) 651-7830 or come into the CIS office and ask for a volunteer application.

Once the application is completed and returned, a staff member will send reference letters to the applicants chosen references. A criminal history check is completed as well. Upon receipt of the reference letters and the criminal history check, a staff member will schedule an interview and training. After successful completion of the training, the person will be matched with their new lunch buddy or mentee.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities

There are many different volunteer paths. You can mentor a child with the Friends of Youth program. You can become a Lunch Buddy. Additionally, you can be a Tutor for a child on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at the Moravian Falls Learning Center. We also need volunteers to assit with fundraisers and general office work. If you have time to get involved, Communities In Schools is a wonderful organization that would love to have you as part of our team.
